- Tasks
* Administering Microsoft SQL 2000/2005/2008 database servers and databases
* Maintain several replicated SQL servers
* Ensuring that contingency plans are in place and failover systems tested
* Recovering corrupted databases and performing troubleshooting of all database-related problems
* Performing proactive database monitoring
* Performing logical and physical design of small to large MS SQL databases.
* Collaborating with technical teams, business managers and external developers on technical topics
* Loading and extracting data between production/reporting databases and external data sources
* Maintain Windows operating systems, including backups, restores, security, service packs, performance testing in coordination with other teams
* Maintain several web application servers, including backups, restores, security, patching and deployments, in coordination with other teams
Requirements
* Solid understanding of relational database concepts
* Ability to work precisely and fast under stress and time pressure
* Proven experience of creating and troubleshooting SQL queries and scripts (2+ years)
* Practicing knowledge, skills and experience of SQL Server 2000/2005 administration (1+ year)
* Knowledge of SQL Server replication, log shipping, mirroring, DTS/SSIS (sound knowledge in at least 2 areas out of 4)
* Practicing knowledge, skills and experience of Windows Server 2000/2003 administration (1+ year)
* Working in a professional Windows/Unix operational position within a structured environment with high availability requirements preferred (1+ years)
* IT or internet user support (preferably helpdesk 2nd line) or other customerhandling experience preferred
* Developing a good understanding of web sites across an International arena
* Education - Degree in systems engineering (or equivalent) preferred
* Fast learning of new technologies
Desirable
* Experience with J2EE environments
* Experience with Unix/Linux environments (basic Linux knowledge)
